About
Since Blaine Johnson and Karen Pearson founded JP Interiors in 1991 the design firm has composed comfortable, elevated spaces in some of the most beautiful homes in Chicago and beyond. What began as two friends sharing their discerning taste and love of beautiful interiors and antiques has grown into a design firm with the capacity to manage extremely detailed and complex large scale projects.
JP Interiors has worked in fifteen states on varied project styles based on client lifestyle, architecture, and the surrounding environment. Each project is consistent in its development. Initially, the scope of work and needs of the client are identified. Resources and specialty trades are gathered to implement the designs and offer full service project management.
Over the years JP Interiors has formed enduring working relationships with some of the best craftspeople and vendors in the area. Services include custom wood millwork and cabinetry, unique painted finishes, and upholsterers and furniture makers who can build custom pieces or breath new life into existing antiques.
In 2017, Haley joined the team to support large projects and take on projects of her own. As the design director, she leads the team throughout the conceptual design and sourcing process. As the firm continues strengthen, the team remains passionate about creating spaces that are reflective of our clients and the lives they lead.

The Design Process
Our design process starts with understanding how our clients want to live in their space. Once the scope and timeline of the project are determined, we spend dedicated time researching and developing materials, finishes, concept imagery, and furniture shapes.
Throughout the design process we educate clients on materials and options available to them. We prioritize the use of natural materials that are good for the environment and age gracefully. By sourcing new, old, and found pieces we build upon layers of finishes to create a unique and harmonious aesthetic for each client.
Our goal is to make our clients lives easier, better, and more beautiful. By working closely with our clients and the project team we aim to deliver an interior outcome that feels cohesive and tells the story of our clients, their family, and their lifestyle.
Founder and Principal
KAREN PEARSON
For almost 35 years, Karen has worked collaboratively with clients to renovate, design, and build high end residential family homes and countless vacation homes.
Her eye for blending classic and modern is rooted in a love for antiques and traveling to source from new vendors and artisans. Building and maintaining vendor and trade relationships for many decades has resulted in the ability to deliver beautiful projects that are detailed and timeless.

BLAINE JOHNSON
Blaine is a co-founder and partner of JP Interiors, and is known for her sophisticated design sensibility. Her journey to interior design started in the world of antiques where she worked and developed a discerning eye for furnishings and textiles.
Over 35 years, she has worked on projects across the country, traveled the world to source unique pieces, and turned clients visions into dream spaces.

HALEY PEARSON
Haley joined JP Interiors in 2017 with a strong passion for project management and transforming the business operations and design execution. With an innate eye and love for travel her aesthetic artfully merges vintage and heirloom pieces with new designs that are cohesive and reflective of the clients’ lifestyle.
Mostly working with families building or designing for the first time, she guides clients through every step with confidence.
